Theme versus motif



 Please answer both questions.  You do not need to restate the questions....number them in your response.

11. What is the difference between a theme and a motif?  


22.  When we read a work of literature, we identify the theme.  How does a theme reflect issues that may be going on during the time period that the literature was written?

  5. A theme is a specific main idea that the author is trying to give out a motif is a generalized main idea the author is trying to give out. The themes that could be displayed while we go through this literature time period could teach us valuable lessons and important teachings for example hunting strategies.

  8. 1. Theme is an overall idea or message of a body of work, something not directly related to the literature in question, whereas motif is the same thing, but specifically for that particular work.

    2.The theme of a work of literature, provided the assumption that the author chose to give it a relevant theme, can allude to and reflect issues that were at the time relevant through subtle parallels or through extremely conspicuous metaphors.

  9. The difference between a theme and a motif is that the motif is found a lot in the story and is a small message/idea. The theme is the overall lesson in the story.

    A theme can reflect issues by showing a lesson to solve the problem in that time period.
